Year 4 again got the opportunity to re-inact a scene from Shakespeare's Hamlet at The Royal Exchange Theatre in Manchester. Their scene was the downfall of Claudius, who killed his own brother the King, and married his wife. KS2 were lucky to go along and watch the fabulous acting. Mathew Mills played a spectacular Claudius and all of the children had a passion for their part. The atmosphere in the theatre was emotive and tense.
We were very proud of our year 4 children who worked extremely hard to make it a great success.
At Shavington Primary School we provide a secure, stimulating and caring environment in which we give children the best possible start to their education.

Den building
Today year 6 went on a 'Survivor' trip to Birchwood woodland area. It was a fantastic experience and the sun shone through the trees. Upon arrival, we had our safety talk and our guide Dan built a camp fire and we gathered wood and kindling to keep it going. We then had to go off and collect as much wood as we could to make a den after lunch. After lunch around the camp fire, we set off in groups and gathered our wood and branches together to make a den structure. The children worked really well in their teams, coming up with great ideas to make their den stable and sheltered from the elements. One team even had a couple of logs as chairs to relax in their den.
Next we all came together and sharpened some wood into wooden tools using potato peelers. We then toasted some marshmallows on the camp fire before we had to go home.

Father's Day Celebrations
Today was a day to treat our Dads and Grandads, to celebrate Father's Day. KS2 had a sports event afternoon which involved Dads, Grandads and children taking part in various sporting activities, for example: bean bag races, sack race, javelin, football shooting etc. The children were split into their various house teams and took their dads along with them in their team. After an exhausting afternoon we stopped for light refreshment.
Thank you to all those dads and Grandads for their participation and have a HAPPY FATHER'S DAY.

KS1 had a Father's Day assembly. Dads and Grandads were treated to a beautiful song, sung by the children. They also individually stood up and said something lovely about their dads. Each Dad was then given a Father's Day card and relaxed with a cup of tea and a biscuit.

Our last day in Italy was another really fun packed day.
The morning started with Pizza aerobics. There were a team of men who came and used real pizzas and artificial pizzas which they threw in the air and spun around . They were amazing !!. We then all made pizzas which was great fun. The best part of the morning was that we ate pizzas.
We had another fantastic lunch with our new Italian friends. Once lunch was finished the children from the Italian school went back to school. We then went in to the swimming pool for the last time. The sun was shining it was 80 degrees and life does not get much better. After our swim we went back to Reggio to ride on a train around the city and then have our last and I think our best ice cream.
After dinner at the hotel we the took the coach to the station. At 10.00pm we boarded our sleeper train for our trip to Rome. Our beds were great and we had a fantastic night. We arrived in Rome at 7.00am and went straight to the airport for our plane to Manchester.
We arrived back in Manchester and were collected by our parents. Everyone agreed that this had been a trip of a life time. We had a fantastic trip.
