Camp Fire Capers! Burwardsley Part II

Evening!

Well I dont know where to start!

Tea was absolutely delicious with children rushing back for seconds (the naivety of youth), whilst the elders amongst us held back for seconds on the puddings! (Not mentioning any names....... but i think Miss 3 Puddings Prophett might stick!)

Clouds cleared long enough for us to explore the wonderful grounds and play some games.

We followed a tree lined path into a wooden clearing and found a crackling campfire. Songs were sang and marshmallows were devoured, all washed down with a hot chocolate. Mrs Gibbs and Mrs Nicholls came to visit and Mrs Nicholls showed us her magic trick of setting food on fire!

We came back inside for a story before bed and touch wood we haven't heard a peep since!

Everyone has had a fantastic first day and we're all really excited about tomorrow.

Burwardsley Day 1

Hello!

We arrived safely this morning and it took us no time at all to put the Burwardsley wet weather gear to the test!

After a quick tour of the site and safety rules we tucked into our lunch early (unfortunately indoors ) due to the heavy down pour.

Sprits were as high as the Bickerton hills as we headed up to Willow hill for our first activity of the week.

We split into 3 teams to compete in "Come Den With Me" where teams scored each other on camoflage and creativity. This score was added to the score for teamwork given by the group leader.

As you can see below the standard was incredibly high.

The children are currently setting up for tea and we hope the skies will clear so we can have our camp fire and sing song tonight.

All children are happy and smiling and have scored the trip 10 out of 10 so far!

Year 3

Shavington Shakespeare

Year 4 again got the opportunity to re-inact a scene from Shakespeare's Hamlet at The Royal Exchange Theatre in Manchester.  Their scene was the downfall of Claudius, who killed his own brother the King, and married his wife.  KS2 were lucky to go along and watch the fabulous acting.  Mathew Mills played a spectacular Claudius and all of the children had a passion for their part.  The atmosphere in the theatre was emotive and tense.
We were very proud of our year 4 children who worked extremely hard to make it a great success.
